Branding
Hotel New Sakura a hotel in Sakura Tochigi Prefecture which closed in 2020 was reborn as Omaruyama Hotel in April 2021. For the new hotel we created a visual identity and designed its facility signs. The logo is an abstract expression of the revitalization of the area centering around Omaruyama the hill behind the hotel. Furthermore in order to complement the stately hotel building we aimed to create a bold and impressive logo. For each person the logo evokes a different motif related to Omaruyama and the hotel such as a bridge a samurai helmet a sunrise or the letters O and H.
The facility signs were designed to utilize the existing signboards with frames successfully creating a contrast between the new and old. The framed signboards were newly painted and graphics such as maps were depicted in a clean and simple style. Horizontal color blocking on the floor directory signs next to the elevators gave them a fresh look.
Large graphics expressing the landmarks of the Omaruyama area such as Kitsuregawa Sky Tower and Ichinohori Bridge were drawn on the stairwell walls aimed to transform the space dramatically. The plan is made for the guests to feel as if they are taking a stroll in the Omaruyama area while walking through the hotel.
